Doug Lorenzen is a Partner at Awaken Capital where he brings a unique mix of capabilities as an entrepreneur and investor, guiding the initial growth stages of several successful startups over the past 20 years. He was initially an asset manager at American Express before co-founding Open English, which has recently announced an upcoming IPO and has raised $130M. Lorenzen was also on the founding team of Talespin which just completed its Series C, as well Vessel Health, which provides instant at-home micronutrient testing. Doug held a Partner role at Moore Venture Partners, focusing on SaaS and Biotech. Additionally, Lorenzen has dedicated several years to philanthropy, successfully launching Daily Hope, which is the daily inspirational program from Dr. Rick Warren, as well as The Daniel Plan, which in partnership with Dr. Oz, promotes health and wellness throughout global religious institutions. Doug’s passion is to “Build great businesses with a greater purpose.” Doug earned his BA in business administration at Pepperdine University.
