Lily Kim is General Partner and Chief Scientific Officer at Awaken Capital who has been with the team since 2015. Lily is a scientific generalist with over two decades of experience commercializing platform technologies from some of the world’s leading scientific networks. Her experience spans multiple engineering and life science domains including synthetic biology, microfluidics, therapeutics, microfabrication, programmable materials, robotics, diagnostics, and devices. Previously she was part of the business development team at the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University, a consultant at Decision Resources Group (Clarivate) working with some of the world’s top pharmaceutical companies, and an engineer at Mercedes-Benz Group. 

Lily is a Hertz Fellow and serves on the Program and Fellowship Council of the Hertz Foundation and on the Dean’s Leadership Council for the School of Biological Sciences at University of California San Diego. She is a Nucleate Bio mentor and served on the Board of Directors of the Hertz Foundation and on the MIT Enterprise Forum Innovation Series Committee. Lily has a PhD in biomedical engineering from the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology, and M.Eng and SB degrees in electrical engineering from MIT.
